Celebrate the Holiday Season with dance music by Richmond's favorite Klezmer ensemble - Klezm'Or'Ami'm, and rousing traditional Irish party music by Turf Fire.

THIS WILL BE A REALLY FESTIVE EVENT - THERE'LL BE WINE AVAILABLE BY THE GLASS AT THIS VERY SPECIAL BENEFIT CONCERT FOR CONGREGATION OR AMI!

We have a lot of reservations for this concert (which is wonderful!). Seats at the concert are not a problem, but the parking lot at Or Ami could fill up quickly. So, Congregation Or Ami has made arrangements for overflow parking at Bon Air Baptist Church at 2531 Buford Rd.  Volunteers from Or Ami will provide shuttle service to and from the Synagogue.  There will be two 2 shuttle vans and a station wagon running from 7:00 pm till 7:55. Enter from the Buford Road entrance and park to the right, towards the back of the lot. If you arrive and don’t see a shuttle van, please call Stanley Feuer at 804 873-3193. After the concert, they’ll take you back to your vehicle.

What is "Celtic Klezmer"?  Well, imagine if the Kellys and the Cohens were to put on a block party!  Although the idea may seem strange, nothing could be more American.  According to Irish musician and folklorist Mick Maloney (who recently released a CD entitled "If it Wasn't for the Irish and the Jews"  "These were two groups who not only came to America to build a better life, but really felt they had no homeland to go back to," said Moloney. The Irish and the Jews, said Moloney, were often possessed of both an artistic talent and an entrepreneurial spirit. That, and the ferment of turn-of-the-century New York City, created the conditions for their long collaboration."

This event is a fund raiser for Congregation Or Ami.    More details to come !
